Apple Crumble (Classic British Dessert Recipe)

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
For the Apple Filling:
800 g cooking apples (such as Bramley), peeled, cored, and sliced
50 g sugar (adjust to taste)
1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1 tbsp lemon juice
For the Crumble Topping:
150 g all-purpose flour
100 g cold unsalted butter, cubed
75 g sugar
Optional: 30 g oats or chopped nuts
Preparation
Prepare the apples:
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Place sliced apples in a baking dish.
Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon (if using), and lemon juice.
Make the crumble topping:
Rub cold butter into flour until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs.
Stir in sugar and optional oats or nuts.
Assemble the crumble:
Sprinkle crumble topping evenly over the apples.
Bake:
Bake for 35–40 minutes until topping is golden and apples are tender.
Serve:
Serve warm with custard, cream, or vanilla ice cream.
