Panino Salato (Savory Italian Sandwich)

Ingredients
1 Italian bread roll (ciabatta, baguette, or panino bread)
2–3 slices of prosciutto or salami
1–2 slices of fresh mozzarella or provolone cheese
2–3 slices of tomato (optional)
Fresh basil leaves
Olive oil, for drizzling
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Prepare the bread: Slice the bread roll horizontally.
Layer the ingredients: Place slices of prosciutto or salami on the bottom half. Add mozzarella, tomato slices, and fresh basil.
Season: Drizzle lightly with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper.
Close and toast (optional): Close the sandwich and toast it in a panini press or oven for 3–5 minutes until the cheese is slightly melted and the bread is golden.
Serve: Cut in half and enjoy warm or at room temperature.
