200–250 g Leberkäse (slice about 2 cm thick per person)
2 eggs
1–2 tsp vegetable oil or butter
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Optional: mustard, pickles, or fresh bread rolls
Preparation
Cook the Leberkäse:
Heat oil or butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
Pan-fry slices of Leberkäse for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and heated through.
Cook the eggs:
Fry eggs in a separate pan or the same pan after Leberkäse is cooked.
Season with salt and pepper.
Serve:
Place the fried egg on top of the Leberkäse slice.
Serve with mustard, pickles, or fresh bread rolls.
Serving Suggestions
Pair with German pretzels or crusty bread for a traditional meal.
Enjoy as a hearty breakfast, lunch, or light dinner.
Cooking Tips
Use medium heat to avoid overcooking the Leberkäse while getting a nice golden crust.
For extra flavor, sear the Leberkäse in butter rather than oil.
Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
