Panini (Savory Italian Sandwich)

Ingredients (Serves 2)
2 panini rolls or ciabatta sandwiches
100 g mozzarella, provolone, or fontina cheese (sliced)
80 g prosciutto, salami, or grilled chicken
1 tomato, thinly sliced
Fresh basil or arugula leaves
Olive oil, for brushing
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Preparation
Prepare the bread:
Slice the panini rolls horizontally.
Lightly brush the outer sides with olive oil.
Fill the panini:
Layer cheese, meat, tomato slices, and fresh greens on the bread.
Season lightly with salt and pepper.
Assemble:
Close the sandwiches firmly.
Grill:
Heat a panini press or skillet over medium heat.
Grill panini for 3–5 minutes per side (or press) until bread is golden and cheese melted.
Serve:
Slice and serve hot.

Serve with mixed salad, crisps, or marinated vegetables.
