Ingredients (Serves 4–6)


For the apples:

  • 4–6 medium firm apples (e.g., Golden Delicious)

  • 500 ml water

  • 150 g sugar

  • 1 cinnamon stick

For the walnut filling:

  • 100 g walnuts, finely chopped

  • 2–3 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the topping:

  • 150 ml heavy cream, whipped

  • Optional: ground cinnamon or powdered sugar


Preparation


  1. Prepare the apples:

    • Peel apples, leaving the tops intact.

    • Core the apples carefully to create a hollow center.

  2. Poach the apples:

    • In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and cinnamon stick.

    • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat.

    • Add apples and poach 15–20 minutes until tender but not mushy.

    • Remove and let cool slightly.

  3. Prepare the walnut filling:

    • Mix chopped walnuts, sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl.

  4. Stuff the apples:

    • Fill the hollowed apples with the walnut mixture.

  5. Serve:

    • Top each apple with whipped cream.

    • Optionally sprinkle with cinnamon or powdered sugar.

  • Choose firm apples that hold their shape during poaching.

  • Poach gently over low heat to avoid breaking the apples.
